About Jean Baldwin

Jean is a paper and rare book conservator based in Litchfield County, Connecticut. She brings twenty-five years of conservation experience to every single item that she assesses and treats. In her private studio, she repairs and restores artwork, manuscripts, and bound volumes to museum conservation standards, preserving the irreplaceable.

Jean holds a master’s degree in Conservation and Library Science and is a peer-reviewed Professional Associate in the American Institute of Conservation. She has worked as a senior conservator at both the Library of Congress and Yale University.  She has institutional and private clients throughout Connecticut, New York, and New England, including: the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Yale University Law School, the Wadsworth Atheneum, The Maurice Sendak Foundation and many historic societies.  Jean also completes treatments spanning five centuries of artist techniques and materials for premier art dealers throughout the northeast.  Her treatments range from 16th century old master drawings and bound volumes to mid-century silkscreens.
